Stoney Littleton Long Barrow was built around 3700/3500 BCE, making it older than Stonehenge. This Neolithic burial chamber was used repeatedly by early farming communities, who placed their dead inside and later returned to rearrange and curate the remains. Archaeological evidence shows it was not sealed immediately, suggesting ongoing ritual interaction between the living and their ancestors. Rather than a final resting place, it functioned as a communal monument to ancestry, memory, and land.
