Good sightings of ringtail cats are about as rare as they come, unless you’re lucky enough to have one call your backyard its home. A resident in Austin’s Jollyville neighborhood took video of one exploring the base of a tree this spring. Related to raccoons, ringtails are found throughout Texas, but they prefer rocky areas, Texas Parks and Wildlife says.
