In Norse mythology, Fenrir is the monstrous wolf destined to bring chaos at Ragnarök, the end of the world. Born of the trickster god Loki and the giantess Angrboda, Fenrir grew so powerful that the gods feared him. They attempted to bind him with chains, but he broke each one with ease. Finally, the dwarves forged the magical ribbon Gleipnir, which looked delicate but held immense strength. When Fenrir was tricked into wearing it, he was bound, but not before biting off the hand of the god Tyr.
