HEROES OF HELENE: Last year, Battalion Chief Tony Garrison of Fairview Volunteer Fire Department and his nephew Brandon Ruppe died heroically while searching for loved ones during the disaster. Tony’s son Dylan was also with them but survived, which widow Mary Garrison told me is a “miracle.” Garrison and Ruppe were among the 11 family members who died in Craigtown during the historic storm.
