Heavy rainfall received in the Omaheke Region has led to the temporary closure of the MR199 road that links Otjombinde and the Kalahari constituency. LIVESTOCK LOSS … Farmers in the Omaheke region lost numerous head of cattle due to drought as carcasses were seen in the area during December. Farmer Jesaya Shipingana on Monday said these were scenes in parts of the region before the rainfall in January. He further said some Namibians were left to face the effects of the ravaging drought during the festive holidays. JUST IN: Omaheke Region governor Pijoo Nganate says questions are being raised about why people should be concerned about being killed by water polluted by uranium leaching when they don’t have access to water at all. He said the region is in dire need of development against the backdrop of 300 children being diagnosed with malnutrition between January and June this year.
