String of Pearls are often dying before you’ve even got it home and here’s why. They are usually planted in unsuitable compost which is too moisture retentive, coupled with a lack of light in the shop and you have a recipe for root rot. My advice is to switch out the soil for something more free-draining. I suggest a mix of grit, perlite, sand and potting compost. For more advice see my new book about caring for cacti & succulents.
