Jan 31, 2025 · The Hearts in San Francisco project debuted in 2004, the inspired idea of two women: Nancy Bechtle and Ellen Magnin Newman. That year, 130 heart sculptures, created by local Bay Area artists, were placed on display throughout San Francisco for the public to enjoy while raising critical funds for the SFGHF to benefit the public hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.
