The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to block court orders requiring Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency to turn over documents about its operations to a government watchdog group.

Government lawyers asked the justices to block a lower court order that Elon Musk’s team and the Office of Management and Budget turn over internal documents.

The recusals left the court in the rare position of not having a six-judge quorum to make a decision on considering the lawsuit against Ta-Nehisi Coates.
