Two firefighters have been killed in Spain and Portugal, the authorities said on Monday, as wildfires ravage the Iberian Peninsula during a sweltering heatwave.
The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice to Spain as thousands of people in the country have been evacuated. Wildfires are currently raging in the north east area of the country, with more than 375,000 hectares having burnt so far.
A fossilized tooth recovered from the Galería site in the Sierra de Atapuerca (Burgos, Spain) confirms that reindeer (Rangifer) inhabited this area of the Iberian Peninsula between 243,000 and 300,000 years ago.
