The Chicago Cubs signed president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer to a multi-year contract extension Monday afternoon, just a few days before the 2025 MLB trade deadline.

With the trade deadline looming, the Chicago Cubs have extended president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer amid one of the team's best seasons.

Instead, they approached the innings puzzle from the other end, acquiring two veteran relievers — right-hander Andrew Kittredge and left-hander Taylor Rogers — and a versatile swingman — Michael Soroka. They upgraded their bench by acquiring utility player Willi Castro.
