More than half of New Jersey's coastline is still at risk of major flooding, the most severe classification through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), on Monday amid a vicious coastal storm battering the East Coast. Newsweek reached out to NWS Mount Holly, New Jersey, by phone for comment.

The Garden State entered a State of Emergency at 10 p.m. on Saturday in preparation for the coastal storm, which is expected to hit Sunday and continue into Monday.

A nor'easter is churning up the East Coast, prompting declarations of a state of emergency in New Jersey and parts of New York state.

A strong coastal low is expected to bring moderate to major flooding, high winds and heavy rain to the Jersey Shore this weekend.
