President Donald Trump has signed a spending bill that includes provisions to ban most consumable hemp products. Following a historic, weeks-long government shutdown, the Senate approved the appropriations package on Monday to fund critical agencies.

The restrictions on hemp-derived THC, the psychoactive compound found in cannabis, threaten to wipe out an industry worth approximately $30 billion, critics say.

The attorney generals are asking Congress to define hemp and stop the sale of unregulated THC products that contain synthetic cannabinoids, like Delta-8.
