Korpisalo will serve as the starting goaltender for Thursday's home game against the Senators, Joe McDonald of The Hockey News reports.
Joonas Korpisalo readily admitted that he wasn’t at his best all day on Monday. But given the opportunity to preserve a win for the Bruins against the San Jose Sharks, the netminder showed up at the right time.
With Bruins starter Jeremy Swayman sidelined (minor upper body-injury), Korpisalo, who had a 3.27 goals-against average and .890 save-percentage with the Senators a year ago, got the start. This season, Korpisalo had a 2.88 goals-against average and .891 save-percentage going into Thursday’s game. His GAA dropped to 2.70 after the shutout.
Now a major development has surfaced involving Jeremy Swayman and another Boston Bruins injured player. Today Jeremy Swayman was a full participant during the Bruins morning skate, and Joe Sacco confirmed that Jeremy Swayman could be an option tonight for their game against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
The Boston Bruins have been fighting the injury bug in recent games, while battling to remain among the playoff contenders with less than three months remaining in the regular season.
