A mother and a grandmother in Alabama died after a house fire Sunday morning despite efforts from the mother’s daughter to rescue them, authorities said.

Governor Kay Ivey has ordered flags throughout the state to continue to be flown at half-staff on Friday, April 25, in honor of former Lt. Governor George McMillian.
