White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt tried to defend a racist video that President Donald Trump shared online depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.

Trump won a legal victory as an appeals court, led by an Obama-appointed judge, allowed his administration’s DEI ban to proceed.

Multiple GOP members of the Senate and House joined their Democratic colleagues in voicing disgust and criticism at the post and urged the president to remove it. Trump declined to apologize, saying he did not see the racist portion of the video when he passed it on to staff.
