Planned Parenthood dropped its federal challenge to a 40-year-old Nevada law requiring abortionists to notify parents before performing abortions on minors as an appellate court allowed the law to go into effect this week.

Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast is closing two clinics on Sept. 30 but said services will not be affected at four others in the Houston area.

“An abortion ban in one state absolutely affects the abortion care infrastructure in other places,” Isabel DoCampo, senior research associate with the institute, said. “We are seeing increases in caseloads in neighboring states, not just Iowa, but other states that have implemented abortion bans.”

While advocates focused on Planned Parenthood, the bill did not mention it by name.
