Donald Trump spent part of his last full day as president-elect visiting the graves of three U.S. soldiers killed in the chaotic pullout from Afghanistan, a tragedy that he has long blamed on the Biden administration.

In advance of Monday’s inauguration, President-elect Donald Trump and his wife Melania attended a wreath-laying ceremony Sunday afternoon at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Ceremony.

Trump placed what appeared to be a gold-tinged challenge coin on each of the headstones while his wife, Melania Trump, placed lilies at each gravesite.

More than 2,000 volunteers participated in the effort to collect the wreaths, which were originally placed on Dec. 14. A total of 260,000 wreaths brought in by several 18-wheelers had been donated and placed at headstones throughout the cemetery.

Trump participated in a remembrance ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery Sunday afternoon. Flanked by Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, Trump arrived after 1 p.m. to pay tribute at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as attendees observed a moment of silence.
