Extreme cold temperatures have settled in over most of the state. Winter storm warnings will go into effect on Tuesday. Precipitation — snow, sleet, freezing rain, or a wintry mix — will begin in southwest Alabama Tuesday morning and continue through the day, moving eastward.

Officials in multiple counties in the Panhandle have announced school closures ahead of a potential winter storm. Bay County: Bay District schools announced the school will operate on a normal schedule Tuesday through middle school dismissal.
