As Keegan Bradley mulls over a key decision, Rory McIlroy was asked if he would ever be a playing captain in the Ryder Cup.

Rory McIlroy has spent much of the last decade as the emotional leader and constant on Europe’s Ryder Cup teams, making his future as a captain an inevitability. He said on Wednesday, however, that it will not be until he’s done as a player.

To McIlroy’s credit, playing captains at the Ryder Cup are incredibly rare. Arnold Palmer was the last one back in 1963, and he led the United States team to a dominant 23-9 win over the Europeans.
