Portillo’s is celebrating the election of Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope and a Chicago native, with a limited-time sandwich called "The Leo." The Italian beef sandwich, available through May, is dipped in gravy and topped with sweet or hot peppers.

"The Leo" is a "divinely seasoned" Italian beef sandwich, "baptized in gravy," the Chicago fast-food staple Portillo's described its new menu item named after Pope Leo XIV.
