A fast-moving brush fire fueled by fierce winds has forced the evacuation of over 100 homes on the Hawaii island of Maui, about 60 miles from the scene of a devastating fire two years ago that killed more than 100 people in the historic town of Lahaina.

On Pulehu Road near the Central Maui Landfill, the wind violently whipped up dust and gravel, occasionally casting a reddish hue over the entire area and obstructing visibility for drivers.
