As 26 countries battle it out in Eurovision's grand final, only one country can take home the win after they perform in Basel, Switzerland. This year marks 69 years of Eurovision and it's back where it all started for the biggest singing competition in Europe.

The United Kingdom finished in 19th place with 88 points. It looked like Israel might be announced as winners as they received 357 votes. However, Austria needed just 100 points in the public vote and ended the contest with 436 votes as JJ won with emotional ballad Wasted Love.

Rock band Ziferblat had arrived in Basel, Switzerland to represent their country, only to learn that the home of backing singer Khrystyna Starykova in a frontline region of eastern Ukraine had been destroyed by Russian shelling.
