Former Philadelphia Police Officer Mark Dial was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and related crimes Thursday for shooting Eddie Irizarry to death in 2023, but he was acquitted of the more serious charge of third-degree murder.

Former Philadelphia Police Officer Mark Dial was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, possession of an instrument of crime, and related offenses for the killing of Eddie Irizarry, and faces up to 20 years in prison.

Mark Dial told jurors he feared for his life when he shot and killed Eddie Irizarry as he sat in his car in Kensington in 2023.
