Detroit Red Wings rookie Axel Sandin-Pellikka scored his first career goal on Friday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

DETROIT – Dylan Larkin scored on a breakaway with 1:24 remaining in overtime and John Gibson bounced back with a 32-save performance Friday as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 at Little Caesars Arena.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, Emmitt Finnie and Axel Sandin-Pellikka have played seven or eight exhibition games, and Friday's game against Tampa was their fifth regular-season contest. That's a lot of games in a short period of time. The familiarity of the coaching staff to the players has increased substantially in a short period of time.
