(KSTP) — Vikings backup quarterback Carson Wentz will undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder. The Vikings officially placed him on injured reserve Monday afternoon and claimed TE Ben Sims off waivers from the Packers. He spent the 2023 preseason with the Vikings.

Wentz went 2-3 as a starter, completing 65.1% of his passes for 1,216 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions.

Miami Dolphins host the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are 6-2 and have dominated this series of late, winning the last seven games, which includes a playoff meeting. Earlier this season Buffalo won 31-21 against this division foe.

The Minnesota Vikings have added some depth in the quarterback room following Carson Wentz’s injury, adding John Wolford to the practice squad.
