Animal control officers in New Jersey removed an eight-foot Burmese python from underneath a resident’s shed

A quiet backyard in Freehold, New Jersey turned into the scene of an unexpected wildlife rescue after homeowners discovered a massive Burmese python had taken up residence in their shed.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) announced the results of this year’s Florida Python Challenge, which featured 907 participants from 30 states as well as Vietnam and Canada.

The Florida Python Challenge is an annual competition to remove invasive Burmese pythons.

This year’s Ultimate Grand Prize winner and the recipient of $10,000 was Tom Rahill, who removed 96 Burmese pythons from the Everglades National Park during the competition.
