Ryan Leonard scored in his second consecutive game for the Capitals (5-2-0), who have won five of their past six games. Aliaksei Protas had two assists, and Logan Thompson made 17 saves.

The 29-year-old netminder was sidelined for the entirety of the 2023-24 season following a bilateral hip injury that required surgery in October 2023.

Shane Pinto scored his NHL-leading sixth goal and added the shootout winner in the Ottawa Senators’ 4-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night.
