The Marcus Center for Performing Arts’ annual Martin Luther King Day celebration features Milwaukee youth who use art, writing or speeches to interpret Dr. King’s words.

Children and parents created art together Monday at the IQ Hub, which opened its doors despite normally being closed on Mondays.

The Akron Art Museum is usually closed on Mondays, but it opened from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission was free in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

As the Centennial Year continues, Friday’s celebration reflects the Blackhawks’ growing investment in Chicago’s neighborhoods. BGCC’s eight Chicago Clubs, which serve more than 15,000 youth annually, will continue to benefit from expanded sports programming and the installation of murals.
