Isabel Woods lost the joy for dancing after the terrible early death of her first son in a caving accident. It would be 14 years before Isabel began dancing again. Now she is still dancing, aged 97.
Born in 1897 in the house remembered as Dunbar Funeral Home on Gervais Street in Columbia, Isabel Whaley Sloan started teaching ballroom dancing and social etiquette when she was 17 years old in 1914.
