It’s been a challenging season for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Things only got worse on Monday night for head coach Hubert Davis, dropping a road test against the Clemson Tigers by 20 points to lose their third game in four outings.

With the program in danger of missing its second NCAA Tournament in three years, North Carolina coach Hubert Davis has made it clear he wants to see his team play with a sense of "emergency" -- a standard he doesn't believe they met in Monday's 85-65 loss to Clemson.

The Tar Heels, 13-10 overall and 6-5 in the ACC, are in danger of missing the NCAA tournament for a second time in three seasons.

Davis also receives an annual expense allowance of $50,000 to be used for entertainment and “other appropriate purposes to advance the program,” $500,000 annually as part of North Carolina’s multimedia rights agreement with Learfield Communications and $250,000 per year from the school’s deal with Nike.

The loss now moves UNC to 1-10 in Quad 1 games and this season has the same feeling it did back in 2022-23. Barring a miracle run, North Carolina will miss the tournament for the second time in four seasons under Hubert Davis and now the talk about his job security continues to be in the focus.

Davis' squad better play with a sense of desperation. If it doesn't, that will raise more questions about his job security.
