Ajax Amsterdam coach John Heitinga sounded more like a fan than an ambitious adversary as his side prepared to take on Chelsea in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Ajax are winless in their last 11 major European matches against English teams (D2 L9) since a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in April 2019. They’ve failed to score a single goal in any of their last five, since a Mohammed Kudus goal against Liverpool in September 2022.
