As a coast-to-coast winter storm slices across the U.S. Sunday and Monday, severe thunderstorms are expected to fire up across portions of the South on the warm side of the storm system.

Severe storms batter the South with tornadoes, damaging winds and hail as large portions of Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana are under weather alerts.

While we are not expecting another widespread tornado outbreak this weekend, some strong to severe thunderstorms could produce wind damage and a few tornadoes from southeast Texas to Mississippi Sunday afternoon and evening.
