The New York Yankees have opened the 2025 season with a stunning homer barrage, which has brought on some controversy in itself. But don't worry about Aaron Judge: He won't be a part of it. Fans have taken notice to a new "torpedo" style bat that several Yankees players have been using since spring training.
The New York Yankees have new custom bats that have led to some early offensive success, but star Aaron Judge has opted not to use a "torpedo bat" this year. When asked why he isn't using a torpedo bat, Judge said he can hit the bell just as well without one.
Aaron Judge is the first player in Yankees history to hit four home runs over the first three games of the season.
Judge has a team-leading four of those homers, and a combined nine homers have been launched by the torpedo-bat quintet of Jazz Chisholm Jr. (3), Anthony Volpe (2), Austin Wells (2), Cody Bellinger (1) and Paul Goldschmidt (1).
But the Yankees have won each of their first three games of the 2025 MLB season, and they have been buoyed by the play of Aaron Judge. The star slugger has hit four home runs and 11 RBIs, including three homers on Saturday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. The Yankees sent him a simple three-word message on Instagram.
