There's much nuance and context to explore beyond the stats as it pertains to the case for Allen or Jackson to be named league MVP.

One of those storylines has been the MVP conversation between Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. There has been plenty of controversy about the matter, and former NFL quarterback Tony Romo only added to it when he gave an interesting take on the situation between the two signal callers.

There’s no such problem as the 2024 MVP race enters its final stages. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and Saquon Barkley are superstar talents whose conventional and/or advanced stats match historic standards for MVP consideration.

Jackson is the only other MVP candidate oddsmakers see as having a serious chance, but he came out of Week 17 having lost ground to Allen. That came despite Jackson's stunning 48-yard run for a touchdown being among the top highlights in Week 17 and Baltimore demolishing the Houston Texans 31-2.

Romo thinks that Allen’s and Jackson’s MVP battle might likely boil down to voter fatigue. This means that voters would lean toward picking Allen, even though Jackson has been just as good, if not better because Allen has never won an MVP while Jackson has earned two of the last five.

Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson have been the two most important players on the field this season, and they deserve to be co-MVPs.

Lamar Jackson, the already two-time MVP, played a key part in an unstoppable backfield thanks to the addition of Derrick Henry this offseason. The two-time MVP has thrown for 39 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions, while racking up 4,807 total yards.
