India carried out a massive cross-border military operation, targeting terror camps in 9 locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Dubbed Operation Sindoor, the strikes left nearly 100 terrorists dead and dealt a major blow to the Jaish-e-Mohammad network.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have been rising again since the Pahalgam attack, following which India conducted air strikes on terror camps in Pakistan.

As Pakistan continued cross-border attacks and India responded to them under Operation Sindoor, markets opened in the red on Friday (May 9) with Sensex falling 500 points and NIFTY 50 down 700 points
