Any wintry precipitation in Oklahoma and Texas should end by midday. Snow will spread from the Mid-South region into Kentucky, Tennessee, far northern parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia into North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.

Parts of 11 southern and midwestern states are under a winter storm watch Wednesday as Winter Storm Cora threatens to bring snow, freezing rain and frigid temperatures to the region before possibly moving through the mid-Atlantic on Saturday, the National Weather Service warns.

Areas in the north Georgia mountains will see between 3-6 inches of snow with locally higher amounts possible farther north into the mountains. Snowfall totals of 1-2 inches will be common around I-20 with 0.1-0.25 inch of ice possible. The northern suburbs in metro Atlanta will see between 2-3 inches of snow.
