New data from Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows 1,288 infections this year through 38 states, including Georgia. By comparison, the US recorded 285 measles infections during all of 2024.
In 2025, the US reported 1,288 measles cases, the highest number in 33 years, primarily in Texas and neighboring states. Most infections occurred among unvaccinated individuals and vaccine-hesitant communities.
